A little of History

Black women came a long way since they joined the work force after the Industrial revolution and both world wars. How and why the succeed, let's be honest now...Why they never gave up their dreams in a prejudice environment? We could ask Michelle as an example but all we can say is that they had to work harder than their white counterparts. Have you ever wonder why Naomi Campbell has dished cellphones and kitchen utensils on her white maids? Can you answer to this one Robert DeNiro?

The term Supermodel was adopted in the early 90's. Black models were already in vogue after the MTV phenomenon and sensitive consequent creation of B.E.T. For this hub we have chosen 3 candidates that fit into the category of Models and entrepreneurs. Here they are with their own style and essence.

NAOMI CAMPBELL

Born on May 22, 1970 in the working-class Streatham district of South London; Naomi was estranged from Her Jamaican father, Ex dancer Valerie Morris, when her mom, or 'mum' was 4 months pregnant. Following her mother's wishes, she never met her biological dad. I wonder if this is one of the reasons of her strong personality and drive toward success or else! and perhaps a hidden thought of not believing in long term commitments. We should ask Myke Tyson or her Actual partner businessman Vladislav Doronin. She declares that her earnings were below Caucasian models even after wide world recognition. She is in our list for her breakthrough success way before other Black models

In 1990 she joined other models for the George Michael's video clip "freedom" next to Tatiana Patitz Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford. Besides acting roles here and there, she venture in an ill fated chain of restaurants called Fashion Cafe, next to Claudia Schiffer and Elle MacPherson. In 1999, she signed her first cosmetics contract with Cosmopolitan Cosmetics, a division of Wella, through which she launched several signature fragrances. Believe it or not her paternal granny is Chinese descendant by the last name of Ming. You can tell by her eyes.

Tyra was born in 1973... right! women hate dates after they reach 30, but she still looks like a bankable model. She was the first top supermodel of African-American descent on the cover of 'GQ' magazine. She can be seen waving her wings as a Victoria's Secret Angel. We are angels too, so we can relate, Do you agree Epi?

Her early appearance on TV, was on the 'Fresh Prince of Bell Air.' If you check Michael Jackson's video Black or White, you will see an 18 years old Banks. Due to her charming personality and careful career moves, Tyra has top our list of Successful Black Entrepreneurs.
