Marissa Mayer, Beautiful And A Succesful Career

What made Larry Page and Sergey Brin stop for a while and... hire this 24 years old (back in 1999), applicant from Wausau Wisconsin?

The two Icons bombarded the future Employee #20 with questions like, "How would you write a spell-check program when you have a vocabulary so big, it won't fit in a computer?" Or, "do you think our silly name has potential?" And so on. Marissa was ready to answer all those questions because she graduated with honors from Stanford University with a B. S. in symbolic systems and an M. S. in Computer Science.

If you don't know her, here are some of her credentials: Ex employee # 20 or 16 from Google. Elected new Yahoo CEO, and developer of our 'I feel lucky' google bar, Google+, iGoogle and even your own Gmail account. "What about Google Maps and Google Chrome?" Yep! She was behind the scenes when they were lauched..!

Sergey Brin would say later, "Marissa makes the decisions she feels are right, and history proves she is right." Simplicity and usefulness are hard to achieve after 10 years of mind boggling pressure from competitors.

But what Google had in its hands was a prodigy. Beauty was not a deterrent for a finish descendant from Wisconsin. Her studies in artificial intelligence made her stay atop of this silicone valley full of young entrepreneurs. FYI, Marissa is expecting a baby due on October; congratulations to her and Husband Zachary Bogue.

We think is just the way she was raised; her mom who would try her best to make a ballerina out of Marissa. An still looks like an olimpic medal winner. This is close to Charlize's story per se. What about her dad? An environmental engineer who would care about this beautiful child and her early needs as a daughter. We wanted to find about her mom as well... and we found her.

We started talking about her achievements, but what about her parents? Let's find out and hear from them.

Mom would start holding her teddy bear Marissa left back home, "She'd never yelled at anything or led cheers. She was way too shy (sounds like us and sister AE). She took a classical-ballet training and turned it into dance team in high school."

Mr. Mayer, her dad, an environmental engineer who works for water-treatment plants, built a home made skating ring for her brother. We are talking about Wausau, where Hockey brings more attention than a Super Bowl. He knew his daughter would go far in life.

Mrs. Mayer, a homemaker and museum lover, spent years ferrying her daughter to ice skating, ballet, piano, embroidery/cross-stitch, cake decorating, Brownies, swimming, skiing, and golf. But never thought about this Google craze. "You give them every experience you can, and then they gradually eliminate things," sweet mom said. "I guess, we were rebellious in our own post-war times...," she mumbled.

"If you look at my daughter shyness, I think Ballet taught her criticism and discipline, poise and confidence," said mom proudly, with a stern voice. Actually Marissa's voice is close to Kathleen Turner's.

We wish she would've thought of that and maybe she would've gotten hold of Lord DC. But the year was 2007 and HubPages was trying to reinvent its platform... once again. Her agenda was the busiest, and she was not ready for love, when one day...

Her best friend (See Kelly?) warned her about a Lawyer that would show up for a needed updating meeting. His name? Zack Bogue. Her future 'Clark Kent' came into her life at the right time frame. This lawyer/investment manager/athlete/philanthropist would steal her heart from the very beginning.

They would spent every night together, at any one of their three homes, his loft in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood, her penthouse, or her house in Palo Alto (for late nights at the Googleplex). They shared a passion for cooking. "People would grill, but we both cook." said Marissa with those sparkling blue eyes. Their affinities went from marathons to working late at nights. "Marissa got me used to carry my lap top everywhere. We never know, when those 15 minutes of craziness would pop!" said Hubby Zach, holding Marissa in his arms. "There's never a distinct line between work and home. Marissa's work is such a natural extension of her. It's not something she needs to shed at the end of the day." He adds with pride.

Do we know Marissa baby's name? Not really, but they are deciding to keep their roots into the future. They know that their offspring will have everything she/he needs. Marissa is very down to earth and will have her mom by her side.

Congrats Marissa! You are an example of perseverance, inventiveness and a role model to new generations, and for ourselves, of course.

Mayer is just as resistant to the kinds of unitary categories that the regular three-dimensional world insists on. On a nano-level, she is our found Biggs boson. It's not only that she demolished old-fashioned oppositions of beauty and brains, or women and science, or chic and geek, but she has defined the role of American women for the next 20 years and beyond.

Between pregnancy, interviews and those text snippets about the physics of data, the future of news, and atomic units of consumption, Marissa knows what is best for the new struggling company that gave up on its own toolbar and core pride. Is she going to bring Jerry Yang back on the boat? We think she will, but shareholders will have to find how strong she really is.

From Madame Du Chatelet and Madame Curie, Marissa reminding us of entrepreneur women that never gave up. Just thinking of Carli Fiorina, ex Hewlett Packard's CEO, we know that her mind is set on a global order.

Don't remind her, but Marissa loves fashion. She is an Internet geek that buys from fashion sites just like any of us. Mom would tweet her some models and Marissa would stop for a second just to text her back! "Got it mom, you just spelled Oscar de la Renta, like Delaware..LOL" Sometimes you will see Marissa wearing turquoise-fringed Manolo's and an Alberta Ferretti dress. You have to include her Oscar de la Renta cashmere cardigan with three-quarter sleeves and pointelle detailing, adding enamel buttons. Marissa please! Oh Sorry, her Platinum Credit Card has no limit. This 1993 graduate from Wausau West High did really live up to her dreams!
