Mark Twain And Me
71
Samuel Langhorne Clemens, the legendary creator of 'the adventures of Tom Sawyer,' and 'Huckleberry Fynn,' was marked by death and despair through out his life. Two of his kids died of young age and unfortunately his brother too. His beliefs in paranormal activity made him as enigmatic as Orson Wells. He saw in dreams, how his brother died and could not stop it from happening. We believe that his 'Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court' man on king arthur's was an attempt to travel back in time. which he did in his books.
Well known by his humor and travelogues, Mark was not too good for financial decisions. He spent his savings on unthinkable enterprises. He lacked financial acumen, and, though he made a great deal of money from his writings and lectures, he squandered it on various ventures, in particular the Paige Compositor. His Vision of Love and relationship was beyond his time.
Good friends with Tesla and Frederick Douglass, Mark changed his view of American Imperialism, after the war with Spain over the Philippines. He became good friends with Standard Oil Honcho Henry H. Rodgers .... and even the became like brothers. When his wife, Olivia Langdon Clemens died in Florence Italy, on June 5 1904, Mark thought his departure was also nearing. His best friend Rogers died suddenly on May 20, 1909. The last blow was the hardest. His Daughter Jean Clemens, 28, died drowned, on Christmas eve 1909
He was set to leave the day after Halley comet passed near our planet on April 21 1910. Weird enough, he was born the same year that the comet came way back in 1835.
He was considered the father of modern Literature. His books were controversial at the end his life as he expected by his detractors.
AN INTERVIEW
On this month of Passion and Love. what can you tell us about Love and its innuendos?
How can I tell you young man! When you fish for love, bait with your heart, not your brain.
That's a good start for a deep thinker. But tell us more about it from your point of view?
I was married 35 years and Love seems the swiftest, but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century.
Let's say, they want you to define love .but with your own flair and sarcasm...huh...
Let me smoke this cigar and then we can continue my friend. After all these years, I see that I was mistaken about Eve in the beginning; it is better to live outside the Garden with her than inside it without her. That was not too bad wasn't it?
Very creative Mark, but this time...can you explain Love? Real love?
After all these years, I see that I was mistaken about Eve in the beginning; it is better to live outside the Garden with her than inside it without her.
How about religion, Sir Twain?
I'm not a member from any parliament or Congress, and I want to feel my freedom as earned. Religion is a man's invention and can fit any society to a T. God is just one, and is just will almost all, except me. He have made me suffer real loses and... at time I feel his indiference. When I was younger I would see him as the perfect creator, but afterwards faith can be tested. A religion that comes of thought, and study, and deliberate conviction, sticks best. I was Presbyterian and I knew the rites of total conversion.
Amazing Sir! But do you have a religion?
I have a religion--but you will call it blasphemy. It is that there is a God for the rich man but none for the poor.
How about Freemasonry..Sir? Did you belong to one of those societies?
If JT Walter, who ever she is...told you about that one, then she must be right. My friends Henry Ford and even Huck Fynn were part of that. Now I need a cigar!
HIS LAST DAYS..
On his memory was his daughter Jean, who the night before dying, was planning her own schedule for housekeeping and Editing his Autobiography. From December 24 until his departure on April 21, 1910 Twain most likely suffered from the inside out. He was not going to wait for the year of the anniversary of his friend Henry Rodgers' death. He died of heart attack on the very next day that brought Halley's comet near our planet. His prediction came to past and with Tom Sawyer next to his bed, and Huckleberry Fynn, approaching and holding his creator's hands for good... actually they represented him and his friends from childhood. Mark left almost peacefully to join his family in Heaven..! At the time of his physical departure, a mourning King Arthur, Put his Sword next to Mr. Clermens body.

Lord,
Thanks for writing this hub, as I always loved Mark Twain writings, funny statements, and quotes; but I never researched Samuel Clemens.
Therefore, I was not aware that his private life had so many personal tragedies. I do hope he found more happiness than sadness in his talented life.
I voted up and awesome.
Your Hub Friend,
Bobbi
Twain is one of the most important writers in American literate.
I loved your interview and the finale with the video. So great to see him live, walking, smoking his always present cigar and finally with his two daughters sharing tea. I grew up with his books and loved to slide off down to the Mississippi with Huck and Tom and watch the great Paddlewheel boats ply the river.
I really also enjoyed Hal Halbrook's skit acting him on stage, he did a marvelous job and quite looked like him to. He studied him well. Fantastic, voted Up. and clicked all your button Lord.
MArk Twain was a freemason. It is all over Huckleberry Finn. You can google Huck Finn and Freemasonry and you will get a lot of hits.
All My Best,
JT
PS What do you drink in your coffee you pop out so many hubs at one time? :)
Oh how I wish we could share aa cup but that is not in the cards for us.
That stuff must be great. How many hubs did you publish tonight? 12?
That would crash my hub score for publishing so much.
Have a good night.
JT
