We have a collection of music that never made it to VH1 and MTV, because they mainly were performed in a different language. However, the melody and the rhythm were enjoyable. Here are some quick examples... and hopefully you will enjoy them. Briefly, we will tell you about the songs and what they are all about. Enjoy! Some songs are really catchy, so beware!

"La Lambada" By Kaoma

The Lambada, a song from A Brazilian group named Kaoma. The original melody came from a Bolivian tune which was revamped by borrowing Brazilian Samba tunes, that are exercised through the drums. This song was actually featured on New Year's eve of 1990 (NYC). The dance was also borrowed from Honduras. You typically dance a Salsa type of move, but with the male counterpart aiming his knees between the lady's legs, right in the area that incite controversy. Certainly has a flair of tango at times when the male has to dance behind his partner. This was one of those 'one hit wonders' that we could only find in YouTube nowadays. The song is sung in Portuguese. "...Crying and lamenting for a love that now is forever gone..."

"Vamos a la Playa" by Righeira, 1983

"Let's go down the Beach! Oh, oh, Oh!" 1983, by Righeira

Stefano Rota and Stefano Righi from Torino, Italy produced this song, that mainly invites you to go down the beach, "Vamos a la playa oh, oh oh!" Funny to know that they were into euro-pop and synthesizers along with the Human League.

"El viento radiactivo despeina los cabellos." Between the lyrics of the song they add phrases of global annihilation. Translation: The radioactive wind messed up your hair!! Oh oh oh!

Trivia: They spoke Italian, but the song was written in Spanish. Yikes!

"Disco Dewanee" by Nazia Hassan, 1981

Nazia Hassan, Pakistan, 1981

Nazia Hassan, was an iconic Pakistani Pop singer. Her song "Aap JaisaKoi" from the Indian film Qurbani (1980) made her a legend and pop icon in Pakistan. Unfortunately she died in London on August 13, 2000 at the early age of 35. Disco Dewanee, was a collaboration between the singer and Biddu, and Indian born England-based producer. This song reached success globally by its catchy soft Disco post Donna Summers.

Controversy: Was banned from Pakistan by Zia-ul-Haq's regime . But the popularity grew after all. At times, people from all over cofused Nazia's nationality with Indian origins. Salute to our friends from both countries!

"Persiana Americana" Soda Stereo, 1986, Argentina

Soda Stereo, Argentina -- "American vertical blind"

"I'd rather feel you out of control.. unreachable!

I'd rather have you irreversible, almost untouchable!

Your baby doll negligee falls slowly..! I'm either a spy or a peeping tom"

Soda Stereo is a rock group from Argentina. Their main influence came from "The Cure" ( from UK ) and post-punk artists. Formed by Gustavo Cerati, Hector Bosio and Charly Alberti. This song honors Cerati vocals and his guitar.

At moments seems like the guitar is about to either shout, cry or tells you off! The drums are awesomely played by Charly Alberti. The lyrics talk about a guy who imagines his girl through an "American blinder." He peeks through it and entices the girl to the very end. "Se que te exita pensar hasta donde llegare!" I know you are as excited as me, and want to know how far I can go...!

This is Canary Bay-- Indochine, 1987

Indochine, Canary Bay, 1987

This is a song that speaks about Canary Bay and its secret inhabitants. Here is the catchy chorus that begins at 0:44 on YouTube

Cest à Canary Bay Ouh! Ouh!
Des filles qui vivaient en secret
Cest à Canary Bay Ouh! Ouh!
Des filles habitaient par milliers

This is Canary Bay, Ouh! Ouh!

where the young live in secret

This is Canary Bay, Ouh! Ouh!

Where they live by the thousands, Ouh! Ouh!

Indochina is a French new wave/ rock band, formed in 1981. The band was very successful in France in the 1980's, as well as other parts of continental Europe, Asia and South America. They sang in plain Francaise, so the most places they toured was Canada and all the French speaking countries.

Music from the World moving its people and us all

music that gave us company, even when we were broke

The songs that were never forgotten , because did touch our hearts

The melodies that defined our taste through a galactical kind of joy!

The song that I never knew about and loved the most was:
