This is more than just a hub from a celebrity. This article is close to a personal story, because we have been to Colombia more than a dozen times. We just fell in love with that Country and its traditions, and its women of course. "Viva Colombia!"

On July 10, 2012 Sofia Vergara or "la Toty" turned the big "Four-O" Long gone were the days of hot summers in Barranquilla where she was born. Tumultuous years of chaos and insecurity made Sofia emigrate to Miami in the early nineties (1994) . Discovered by a photographer on a beach in Barranquilla, Sofia wanted to be successful and famous. Not even her Catholic background and her nun teachers could stop her from making her dream come true. In 1992 she welcomed her only son: Manolo, and from there own, she had a reason to fight. Divorced came along, the the U.S. was ready for her, or was she ready for the United States and stardom?

Why Colombian Women are Beautiful?

Barranquilla is a seaport and since colonial times has welcomed immigrants from all over Europe. Curiously, if you see Shakira, she is from Barranquilla as well. The mulattoes from Africa brought their own beat. The East Europeans and middle east brought those famous thick eye brows -- check Salma Hayek and you will see what we mean.

If you expose little girls to drums and a hot weather, adding beaches and their background, rest assure you will see well rounded bodies that during years blended nature and beauty through the beat of a "Cumbia."

If you drive east from Barranquilla 200 miles, you'll end up in Caracas-Venezuela. Hello? You ever heard of Venezuelan runner-ups from several Miss Universe pageant contests?

Let's see Sofia's first commercial for Pepsi, back in 1989. By the way, Sofia is a natural blond. "Hollywood, was more interested in my Latina look, so I had to dye it brown," she said once. Or, "In Colombia you are nothing if you don't have a well endowed derriere..."

The Secret of her Success?

We would love to take a short cut and say, well those big "behinds," and those wonderful and lovely "boobs" are the real secret, but her Son Manolo would chase us like in "Chasing Papi" for sure. This would be too cheap and beyond cliche. Have you ever been stuck in a hub.... where you just wrote 499 words and cannot write anymore for the day?

Well, we felt like that yesterday, but by seeing this video, we continued in our research and went further and did investigate this beauty from "HP Colombia!!" Only a Colombian would tell you what "HP" means in Spanish, or maybe Klara Wiek from HubPages, a Cuban Native fellow hubber could tell us..? Sorry but still stuck with these forums asking What is the word that starts with "L" and ends the same? I just LOL! Or names that start with a vocal and end with the next vocal. Duh?

The guy that was running at the end of the clip is Co-host Fernando Fiore. Just 23 years old and already showing attributes for a star. We had to take a break of course, because, you know, things got steamier for a while. "The best secret from El Salvador are actually its beaches," she said with her natural accent.

The real Secret of her Success

Ever seen the girl that is the toast of the party, always vivacious and open minded? Sofia brought with her that enthusiasm and charisma that a Colombian female can share with everyone who is friendly. Well, the Secret Service missunderstood that "kindness."

She can be the funniest guest for any party and here is the proof. Let's see what Ellen Degeneres had to go through... "Ay caramba"

A private Life that made her Stronger

In 1998 her older brother Rafael (27) was killed after forcing and fighting against some suspected kidnappers on the streets of Bogota. Sofia decided to bring her mom, younger brother Julio and her female cousin Sandra to Miami. Things were going fine until 2000 when she was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Her doctor advised her to get iodine radiation and surgery. Her full recovery was like another chance for life. That's another reason why her eyes shine when she smiles.

Calendars and Movies were offered to her, but not all was peaceful; on May of 2011, brother Julio was deported back to Colombia for having too many brushes with the law and escalating drug addiction. Sofia was convinced that Julio never recovered from the loss of his older brother Rafael. "All I do is take a deeper breath and keep on going," said Sofia once. So like Maria Jordan would know better, second chances are given for a reason in life.

Not just a pretty Face or a phenomenal body...

Sofia has been searching for ways to diversify her stardom. Her Kmart clothing line has received a positive response from America. CovergirlĀ® chose her as its new face once, next to Beyonce and others like Ellen. Her American dream came down to her doorsteps. Long gone are the days when she was just a young 18 years old dentistry student in Barranquilla. Her efforts and her constant innovative humor (and friendly personality) made her one of the best paid actresses as of 2012.

Modern Family

After moving up from B movies like "Chasing Papi " (2003), "Soul Plane" (2004), Sofia started to get meaningful roles like the ones we remember from "Four Brothers" (2005), "Happy feet 2" (2009) and "The Three Stooges" (2011). Sofia made herself available for Hollywood Boulevard and the Networks. In 2008 producers Christopher Lloyd and Robert Levitan exchanged ideas and fun moments from their own families. Suddenly the ideas evolved into a sitcom. They were behind "Frazer," "Wings" and "Just shoot me."

By 2009, they approached Sofia and her "unique accent" to offer her the role of her life: playing a young Colombian wife to Ed O'neill (All my children's Al Bundy) with her own character and almost improvised humor. So far the show has been renewed for a 4th season, and "Gloria" is having a life of her own, pregnant and all. We applaud this beautiful human being, and a beautiful Ambassador from Colombia. Once more adversity met her match, and Sofia proved it to us all. Glad to have known more about you Sofia : "QUE VIVA COLOMBIA JUEPUTAA!"
