A Dental Floss Scam

79

By lord de cross

There is nothing against the Dental Association, or these honest dentists that have to study Medicine and then choose the dental profession. And eventually pay back that loan. Since my early teens I had problems with sweets and candy, and of course cakes. Yesterday was checking online into this career and slowly deepened my research, like a cleaning brush.. and found out that I was not alone in my suspecting these 'professionals.'

MY VISIT, CAN YOU RELATE?

Every time I visit a new dentist, and they find out I have insurance, they try to find all kind of problems, when I open my mouth for them to see. From the x-rays to checking thoroughly your cavities and giving you hope in telling you lots of things. I usually go for a check up and they come with other stories, like replacing old cavities, or suggesting crowns. Reminds me of song that sings the Mechanic when I change my Oil.

MY FINDINGS

After researching on the net, and you can do it too, I found out that lately the dental profession has joined the group of scammers..and unfortunately they are becoming vultures that want to get the most from your insurance. If you go to visit two professionals, you will get different answers or points of view. Bottom line is, they just want to make sure your visit was not in vain. How are they going to pay their staff? How are they going to keep the dental assistant employed? Or the appointment Secretary who makes the calls to that toll free number behind your insurance card? And calls you 24 hours before your scheduled appointment?

ORAL CLEANSING

Have you ever noticed how they kind of make your gums bleed, and supposedly they want to reach deeper, where 'no man or bacteria has gone before'? For me is like these mechanics that make a hole in your radiator with a screw driver..they know you are not too close to see them do it( the mechanics). That's the main reason they make sure you read the sign: ' No customer allowed on the premises, due to insurance regulations.' And the famous waiting room with coffee and donuts....ops, sorry dear Dealer, you will be next!

Obviously, the dental assistant will make sure you come back. They cover their actions by putting a light above you, the music is always lite FM. and you always lay back to react slowly to their comments or suggestions...Do I make sense? Sure the dentist will back up their procedures as normal for anyone.

WHY IS A SCAM?

Is not what you want to be done, is their say against yours!

Try getting a second, or even a third opinion; all will give you different options

If they don't have the alternative, most likely they will refer you to another scammer or 'specialist'....like this family dentist had to refer me to and orthodontist.

UPDATE

Went to see an eye doctor way past morning hours, and he was about to have his lunch... probably was about 12 noon, He made me wait in this room with his instruments and he took me in, I don't complain. But my insurance was BLue Cross Blue Shield.. and his Secretary distinctly told him that I had a good Insurance. He came back to me after Lunch... maybe about 1 pm. He did a normal check up and made me read the eye chart, or 20-20 Snellen chart. My vision was good and I just needed to 'come back' for a second evaluation in 2 weeks. Guess what, after 7 days, the Insurance report arrived to my address; it stated that this Ophthalmologist did more than what he just did! A three minutes stupid vision check. The statement was saying that I had extra evaluations and other procedures that were never performed or the break down was not understandable at all. So, now you guys tell me: Am I dreaming or this has been going on for a while, huh?

NOW...

Sure, some dentists will answer me back and so!. But how can you dear 'professionals' can come out with a decent ...lie?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Sonquioey10,

Just be careful of those whitening sessions. This remind me of the appointment with my mechanic. Thansk for commenting!

You're welcomed. And I will never attend a whitening session, ever, after what I read. Appointment with the mechanic?
