West Orange

New Jersey

February 11, 2047

Today marks the 200th anniversary of Thomas Alva Edison death. Residents of Llewellyn Park, West Orange are having their 194th annual meeting to discuss the fate of the community which is usually held on every January 1st.

Several landslides from the first range of the Watchung mountains have caused damages to the eastern slope, resulting in irreversible erosion to the once lush and wooded area . A group of Scientists from the well known MIT and the European Nuclear organization, CERN, convinced the residents, the National Park service and the Governor of New Jersey to use their latest retro DNA Analyser, an improved bio retro-scanner.

Might seem like a modern version of "One step beyond" and the "twilight zone" combined, but our scientists have already tested the "bio-engineered device" with other distinguished 19th Century Scientists like Madame Curie and the Lumiere brothers.

How Does it Work?

A nano-gamma bio-algorithmic probe "scanned" through the remains, with family permission of course, and added a sequential theoretical psychosomatic "self" to data collected through centuries. However, and this is so important, search engines would fill the holes during sensitive period of times.

This was just a simple explanation for the general public; we left aside the psychosomatic and psychological implications that were held within acceptable parameters.

Phisicist and bio engineer Dirk Baumann is already testing a Crown like set of sensors to put it on my head. Words like,"98 precent of inspiration," "Mary had a Little lamb" are already being Heard through the sensors...

THE DANGER OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES

Before long I was witnessing my own childhood along with Mr. Edison*s. I let the scientists know, because I was already going back in time to my own beginnings as well. They were kind enough to calibrate and isolate the inventors own genome. Was this a future movie in its early stage?

The "probe" results have been handed down to the nuclear European commission in accordance with protocols an academic sharing policies between Massachussetts' MIT and Swiss CERN. Three Scientists have worked on the holographic detailed replicator. Meaning that we would able to have an actual conversation with a tridimensional "self" duplicate of the iconic person of study. Far-fetched?

"Joseph, you are all set for the interview now," said Francois Troissant, a bio-physicist that completed the tedious genomic bio-algorithm for the probe.

"Thanks, Francois!"

The Interview

This is amazing! Here is where Tim Berners-Lee, who truly specified technological applicability and/or linguistic construction of that feared HTML, made the net a reality!!

"Now I'm facing a giant step for humanity," I said to myself. A film from Milan Ohio from 1847 is shown to me sequentially. I see Henry Ford and President Warren G. Harding next to Harvey Firestone and Edison himself. Suddenly, I saw this man in his middle sixties that came into the conference room. Is Thomas Alva Edison, who like a normal folk was able to talk to us, thanks to this tridimensional holographic probe.

:

Straight Into the interview

" Good Morning Mister Thomas Alva Edison"

"Good morning Joseph!"

"A pleasure to have you with us. Nice talking to you!"

" My pleasure young man"

"Just want to thank you for your time"

"Time... huh. Now I have more time than ever Joseph!"

"Here are my questions, and well, feel free to answer them"

"Sure, Joseph"

The Wonder Years

Aside from the incident where you saved this three-year-old Jimmie MacKenzie from being hit by a runaway train in Port Huron. Do you think luck was with you?

This is a good question Joseph. I have certain access to biographies and events from where I am. And I've noticed certain people that never made all the way into the limelight of fame.

Some musicians were mediocre and some scientists never came up with something worth mentioning in those history books. First thing first. I believe my fate was marked at birth.

I was born in Milan Ohio where people did work hard for their living; I sincerely believe that the construction of the Milan Canal that began in 1833 and it opened to lake navigation on July 4, 1839 marked my parents determination to move there.

Curiously, the peak year of commerce was around the year of my birth,1847. Although by 1854, when I was seven, we had to move to Port Huron Michigan.

My father was smart enough to see the declining of commerce with the advent of railroads in the 1850s. By 1865 the so called canal-bourne prosperity ended for good.

The Begining of His Visionary Entrepreneurship

Thomas set in an offset printing machine, and obtained the rights to sell his "Grand Trunk Herald" through the route. This was the beginning of a rewarding career as a businessman. His innate talent led to found 14 business including General Electric, GE.

Deafness Issues

You are right Thomas about being predestined to be the one. Seems that deafness helped you develop that Phonograph of yours. How did you become partially deaf?

Because we have two versions of the story, and we want to hear from you. We confirmed ourselves, though, that you developed hearing problems at an early age. The cause of your deafness most certainly was attributed to a bout of scarlet fever during your childhood and recurring untreated middle-ear infections. So...

Oh! Then you got all the answers Joseph. When I was in that infamous wagon heading to Detroit, a frightening fire started in my made up lab inside the train, and the conductor got mad and threw me from the train with the whole chemical apparatus and 'empirical lab.'

He wanted to take justice with his own hands, but he couldn't. To be honest with you, the explosion really impaired my hearing abilities at that moment for years; and to make it worse this conductor didn't want to stop the train and literally threw me off my wagon at Smiths Creek, Michigan. I made up the whole story of the injury stating that it occurred when the conductor, in helping me onto a moving train, lifted him by my ears. Don't politicians change bios for every election campaign?

Your are funny as well Sir!

Marriage

You married your first wife in 1871 and she was born in 1855. Summer of 55 in our own words. Don't you think you were a little too old for her?

Talking about timing. Back then it was normal to marry a 13 years old "lady", sorry for the euphemism, but yeah I fell in love with Mary Stilwell. She was an employee that I met in October of 1871. We got married on December 25th. You couldn't beat that!

Now, I think here starts a change in your life. Mary Edison died at age 29 on August 9, 1884, right in the midst of hundred of inventions that changed our civilization. Is that true that you became meaner and hostile toward your employees, because of events like this?

I wish you were there Joseph. I understand your point and where you want to go. Just heard about this Steve Jobs, a modern Icon character. Just remember this: We were subjects tied to our times, ambitions and influences. I see back in retrospective and I think I was hard on my employees, but they needed a leadership and I was a cunning entrepreneur.

I was there to push them into the hassle of productivity. Going back to Mary. She was my life! I did cry so many nights wondering why she had to leave me so young. That was not easy task for me.

So you met Mina Miller and got Married again?

Mina was a 20 years old Methodist child. Her father was Lewis Miller, a great philanthropist indeed. My kids needed a mother and she was a fantastic woman who filled that void. I was 39 back then. We did have 3 more children

You talk about those times with so much fondness...Sir Edison.

My kids are with me now. Sometimes I ask Henry Ford to come to play Golf with my two boys... and he certainly does. He even comes in a well preserved T- model or Tin Lizzy. I'm so grateful to him for those earthly camping, back in 1914. By 1923, our wives joined the party.

Inspiration

Might sound too cliche Mr. Edison, but where did you get your inspirations? We have our muses and our love for reading.

Joseph, muses or not, I believe we were predestined to be somebody in life. I truly believe that all came from my parents as well. My father escaped from Nova Scotia back in 1837 and I think that made me a quick thinker and adventurous to death. My mother home schooled me after I failed grammar school. I promised myself never let her down, after all the care and quality time she spent with me.

Interesting perspective that are not in the Books.

I think you did a good job so far. You are going to be surprised with an offering one day..

Please tell me! Can you tell me? I'm curious now! Would you please?

If I knew I wouldn't tell you, and If I didn't know, I wouldn't try to tell ya!

You've got me on this one Sir Thomas!

Nicola Tesla

Why did YOU mention or say to Nicola Tesla that... er, he was not American enough to understand a Joke?

Joseph, I said, "When you become a full-fledged American you will appreciate an American joke"

I know I was wrong. Totally ludicrous. Actually I talked to Nicola on our "higher level" and we apologized and said sorry to each other. I regret so much what I did on the last years of my physical existence.

So Westinghouse and Tesla were right after all..?

He did what he thought it was right. Nicola Tesla was there to back him up. I had investors like J.P. Morgan on my side. My earthly pride was at stake. My human ego never left me alone. I did promise mom to get the best out of myself, and intrinsically that's what I did.

Listen Joseph, I still feel the diabetes complications running through my veins. I apologize and repent for my wrong deeds. Nicola was one of my best engineer and Inventor and as Americans I did him wrong. I recognize my error, and I wish things would've been different now.

I believe the world is not the same because of you Mr. Edison. You did an amazing Job and I do admire you more than ever!

Thank you Joseph. This was so kind of you, but can I say my favorite quote?

Sure!

"Genius is one per cent inspiration
and ninety-nine per cent perspiration."

We took our break, and we were about to start talking about Henry Ford, but it was already 3:23 a.m. We knew he had so much to tell us... but the experience was out of this world!
