Vinyl Was Part of My Life
The Reason Behind This Inspiration...
Were searching ourselves for a piece for my lawn mower and found these collection hidden up on the attic. Was surprised to see our parents words scribed all over them. Some had the words like scratch, use for Rossy, hide from little Peter... and so on. The picture speaks for itself; a mute collection of memories that go 3 generations at least. My mind, as usual, started the words and even if I am not done..will try to decode music when it was inscribed through these rhythmical grooves etched past memory lane...
VYNIL WAS PART OF MY LIFE
.
.
You are right Bing Cosby and Annette Funicello
those times will never come back
Naming a few to warm up our mind
Starting with Mister Thomas Alva Edison
all was set to change the world
music was like a God sent gift of love
rhyming the words
as simple strokes from our memory brush
Rockolas were there for us
playing Bill Haley and His Comets
Not leaving the King alone
Elvis was there to train our hips and more...
A record was a miracle in our eyes
RCA, Technics, Dolby and quadraphonic
bits of memories as we sigh
grabbing words that will comply
with our inspiration that is set at forty five
Disco was the era that woke up our mind
from Travolta, to Donna Summers and such kind
Roller Boggie, Flashdance..they all blew our mind
cleaning the stylus to keep fidelity sharp
turntable don't give up on compact discs yet
Records gave our lives a reason to be
Mono, stereo Quads and 4.0 surround sound
Our lives set to hear such amount of music that shook our ground
From reverberations of a live sound
An inscribed modulated spiral groove
that turned our minds upside down
reckoning this illusion of directionality
audible perspective and the side of brain
that would capture that sweet analysis
Records were there for us
seeing ourselves looking for quarters under the couch
and run to the store which would play
the warmest music with no doubt
Music instilled in our ways
'hipping it up' as we walk a little fast
Setting the rotational speed of our soul to 45
was meant to change our own live
At times we will go to 78
but was enough for a day of rum, soda and cake
This vinyl thing fad might be coming back
DJ's have learned that there is not quality style
going to equalized curves on a lap top screen
with digitized creativity that end in zeroes and ones
The real deal is turn that table at will and capture all the fun
Vinyl is still in our mind
stars on 45, set the record straight
CD'S and DVD's paved the way for MP4
What will be next? SD cards that will be etching our hearts?
Hope to play again that unchained melody
back to Puppy love and Benny Hill comedies
grabbing my jeans again and walk down memory lane
as staying alive is played with that unique style that will never end...
